Living with foot pain whether it is acute or chronic can often stop you from doing the things you enjoy the most. Here at South Devon Foot Clinic we want to get you back on your feet as soon as possible. A full Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Biomechanical assessment will allow us to ascertain the cause of the pain, nature of injury and extent of damage that may be continuing to occur. This enables us to put measures in place to mitigate the causative factor as best as possible, relieve your level of pain and discomfort whilst supporting you with an evidence based rehabilitation programme.
A gait analysis shall be undertaken to highlight any changes in your gait pattern. We shall assess the structure of the foot, the range of movements within joints and the forces on certain joints. Gait analysis looks at the way you walk and move and how this affects your lower limbs. By treating changes in gait due to muscle weaknesses further up in the body will ultimately reduce uneven wear and tear of joints. The results from your assessment shall inform a targeted treatment plan for both the short and long term.
During rehabilitation programmes, we may include muscle stretching, strengthening with or without the addition of a bespoke orthotic to support your feet. There are many different causes for foot pain which lead to conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Morton’s Neuroma, Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome and Arthritis to name but a few.
South Devon Foot Clinic Podiatrists are well trained to provide you with specific, targeted treatment plans for all foot pain so don’t suffer in silence – get in touch today so we can help you get back on your feet doing the things you love.
Diagnostic ultrasounds are frequently used to help diagnosis specific conditions. If appropriate your Podiatrist may recommend Corticosteroid injections, also known as cortisone injections or steroid injections, to help to relieve the pain and inflammation of common foot pathologies such as plantar fasciitis, Mortons neuroma, painful arthritic joints.
Cortisone is a hormone that’s produced by your body’s adrenal glands in response to stress, allergic reactions, and inflammation. Cortisone injections use a synthetic version of natural cortisone (also called a corticosteroid) to combat inflammation in very specific parts of the body, like the heels. It can be helpful to think of cortisone injections as a very targeted, potent version of tylenol or ibuprofen. An ultrasound will be used to determine the integrity of tissue.
Steroid injections for your foot pain are usually injected in the spot where the pain is most severe, using a thin needle helping relieve your pain and enabling you to engage in your rehabilitation getting you back to doing the things you love. As a specialist appointment, an initial consultation will be require first. Get in touch for your consultation so we can assess your foot pain.
